Morning in the Mountains by blacklady-vip Morning in the Mountains by blacklady-vip
I'm so productive at the moment, incredible :)
So here is my latest work, a digital painting again.
I used a reference for the pose and hair: Buried Memories by zemotion and for the background: Morning at Situ Gunung II by juhe
Tell me, what do you think about the skin tones?

Enjoy

Edit: Changed some proportions and the lighting of the face.

I think the overall look of the picture is great. Really well on the shading and the texture of the hair. :)

If I were to give some sort of critique it would be that her skin tone is a little bit too grayish. If you were to add just a little bit of red (and maybe some blue) in it it would pop a little more and it would look more alive I think. Also maybe add a little more light on the top of her head since she is outdoors and she already has that sort of light in her face and on her shoulder but not as much in her hair.

Either way  it's a very beautiful piece!

I love the colours in this, they work so well together! Your shading is really good, especially in the face, and the hair looks like it's really blowing in the wind. I think you could play around a little more with shading and textures on her shirt though, it looks a little flat. The face looks a little bit crooked to me, particularly the eyes and mouth. Have you used a template for the face? If not, I would recommend it. I remember when I did a bit of digital drawing (though nowhere near on your level), templates really saved my faces from looking absolutely ridiculous. Of course you can tweak them as you will, it's just to make sure the proportions come out right. The background is lacking a bit of details, but that doesn't really matter. It works well with this piece, as all the focus in on her.

I really like this overall, so well done :aww:

Thank you, your comment is very helpful. When you stare at a work for too long, you become blind for some errors. Especially with the off face features. I think it's due to the left eye. I'm going to fix it if i've got the time to.

I can definitely relate. Have you tried flipping your image horizontally while drawing? It's a very simple way to see things from a new angle, and can help with those little things.

Yes I did this technique in earlier paintings, but I tend to forget this. It's demanding to the brain when the paintings rearranged completely different. Thanks for the tip.

The hair is very nice looking, but I do think the skin looks a bit washed-out and flat. It needs some more color to it. Maybe some reddish and/or orangish colors around her nostrils and eyes, and some more yellow or orange shades where the light hits her. She looks a bit green in general.

I was aiming to use unusual colors for the skin, and a green tone in the whole image. I used some slightly red/orange tones in her face, but apparently too little. Thanks for commenting and for the tip.

No problem! I have the same issues.  It might help if you painted her in more normal colors, then used adjustments and layers to make her a bit more green-tinted.

The face looks like a traditional painting while the rest looks digital to me. I like what you did with this piece. There's a great color scheme in the palate.

I aimed to use unusual colors. And probably the greatest parts of the image look digital because they are not so detailed (and you can see the brush strokes and those things). That's a point I should work on: spending more time on details in the background. Thanks for your comment.

The colors remind me of a Renaissance painting.
